Description
Brego is one of only three breeding age Spanish Mustang Stallions in the UK, and will be available to cover selected non Spanish Mustang mares during the 2008 season.
He has the Spanish Mustang`s legendary stamina, toughness and good nature, which he passes on to his offspring. He is very people friendly and is a firm favourite with the staff and visitors at the yard
He has a `can do` attitude and a willingness to please which when coupled to his loving and gentle nature endears him to everyone who meets him. He has a powerful jump, a huge canter stride, and like all his breed has stamina that many modern breeds can only dream of.
The Spanish Mustang is a small horse typically standing between 14 and 15 hands yet capable of carrying a full grown man all day.
They are directly descended from the horses the Spaniards took to the New World in the 1400`s. These horses were the Indian ponies, the Pony Express Ponies and the mount of choice for many of the old time, and modern, cowboys.
They are known for their toughness, hardiness, agility, seemingly endless stamina and their friendly nature.
In the USA Spanish mustangs are still used for cattle work, but they also compete successfully at many English and Western equestrian disciplines including endurance, show jumping, eventing, dressage, hunting, polo and driving.
The Spanish Mustang is a rare breed that was nearly lost in the late 19th early 20th centuries; it was saved by the dedication of a small group of enthusiasts.

Brego sired `Blue` the first UK conceived and born Spanish Mustang.
He was bred to a NZ TB polo pony last year with the foal due in 2008.
